HOW TO REACH ŁÓDŹ

By train

Passengers are serviced by PKP - the Polish State Railways. Three types of trains are available: intercity, eurocity and expresses; fast and slow trains. Passengers can travel in two classes: first and second. To travel in eurocity, intercity and express trains, passengers must purchase so called miejscówka, which entitles them to take a given seat on a train.Trains operating on long distances frequently have additional buffet cars and sleeping cars. Foreigners cannot take advantage of discounts for students and school children.

Lodz is already an important railway transport centre. It has frequent and fast connections with the capital city of Poland, Warsaw (travel time : 1 hour 40 minutes), and with other cities in Poland. It has two railway stations : Lodz - Fabryczna that is almost in the centre of Lodz, and Lodz-Kaliska that has been recently thoroughly modernized and where international transit trains that go from Warsaw via Lodz to Wroclaw and then to the Czech Republic and Germany are passing through.

Goods stations situated in Lodz also play an important role in railway service.

Łódź Airport im. Władysława Reymonta was established in 1925 and has been engaged in regular air service ever since; since 1958 it has had regular domestic and international connections, thus servicing ca. 10% of domestic passenger conveyance which equals ca. 15 thousand people annually.

The need to increase transportation potential of the region, following the intensified domestic and international contacts of the inhabitants of Łódź, gives rise to the necessity of modernising the Łódź Airport im. Władysława Reymonta.

The investments made in conformance with the requirements of the safe use and the continued activities of the airport have been finished. Presently, a safe and professional air service is offered for the class ATR 42 and ATR 72.
Modernised Terminal of the Airport, which was opened with due ceremony on October 23, 1997, offers fast passenger servicing and the frontier station - established formally by the terms of a decision of the Minister of the Interior and Administration from September 14, 1997 - opens the possibility of passport and customs clearance on the spot, still another convenience for international passengers.
